FOR DEMO USE. Go to http://www.intraclient.com/products/productsacse.htm FROM THE INTRACLIENT SITE: 1. Download the accenta disk file and unzip to a temp directory. 2. Download ODBC files (odbc.zip)(origin MSSQL/WIN16 - the others dont work)and install. Do the same with Reports DLL (rrdll.zip)copy to three folders /accdisk /rr and /odbcacc ON YOUR COMPUTER: After you have downloaded accenta and odbc.zip. go to control panel and Setup new user: accountant and passwd: system install by running setup of accenta and setup of odbc . 3. Run SETUP.EXE of accenta files. When prompted for disks 2, etc change the disk number on the setup screen and simply press RETURN.After install log off (shutdown/restart) and login again as accountant and passwd system. 4. Make sure all files are copied to the Accenta directory. (Note: To re-run setup you need to delete the Accenta directory first). 5. In Accenta directory run ODBCADM.exe . Click on installed drivers. Click on SQL SERVER. Click ADD NEW NAME. Enter Accenta aS data source name. Enter the IP Address for SERVER. (The IP Address for demos is24.69.64.234) 7.Click OK. Then Exit. 8. 9. 10. Type ping and the ip address to ensure connectivity. Ping 24.85.92.191 (This is our Nicola demo server) 10a. type ipconfig and inform Intraclient technician your ip address. Intraclient will allow the range through the firewall. If your ip address range shifts radically you will not be able to access the system. 11. go to network places Tools map network drive create shortcut to web folder (click on examples if needed) enter \\24.69.64.234\c$ and if login box appears: Administrator system that should get the server added as part of your network 11a. Reminder: set up a user and password that is the user and password available on the server (such as user:accountant and password: system) Log into you system as such. 11b. If you don't set up a corresponding user valid both at the client and the server you need to go to network places and set up the server as a network connection. Type \\65.110.1.35\ (note that it is backslash and somtimes this varies depending on the vrsion of the client OS) or whatever directory is shared on the server then click on File in the main menu and Login and enter username and id for the server as accountant and system Once in, exit. 12. Execute accenta.exe from the accenta directory. 13. Click on the splash. Enter username: sa and password: (password is system) 14. You are now logged into the database. You can use Accenta now. 15. You can change the look and feel of the interface by using the Display functions in the windows Control Panel. ------------------------------------------------------------ SERVER NOTES: 1.The server must have a static ip address. 2. It needs to have a firewall (such as Zone alarm or Black Ice). Firewall Notes: Set trusted zone security to Low Add zones that are allowed access - yu can specify each clients IP addres if it is a static or a range if it is dynamic. When client pings watch the alert. Make sure ping is not a command accepted by the firewall and set alerts to HIGH - show all alerts. When client pings note the IP address and specific the range in the add zones section. Following Microsoft services must be allowed by the firewall: Client Server runtime DNS (Domain Name Server) File Transfer Progra Generic Host SQL Server Windows NT TCPIP Service Application Windows NT Logon Windows NT Command Processer Ping (not critical) FOR ACTUAL USE: Setting up the system must be locally done at the server. (Otherwise 32bit error occurs) On the first instance, this will occur: - Accenta database not found, do you want to create this? Say yes. When prompted, database name is acc and the log device as acclog. Make sure your file size is 50MB for both log device and database. Size increases will be carried out after use). Click OK. You will be prompted to initialize company details, etc. System is ready . To log in to system again, follow steps 11 and 12 above. 1. Always make sure your database free space is sufficient on the server. Use MSSQL to expand diskspace before you run out of diskspace. Truncate the log device when necessary. 2. If for any reason you have made a mistake and want to start all over again after you have already created the database, go to MSSQL, make sure server is registered. Click on Manage Database, and remove the accenta databases and accenta log devices. Do not remove master and other system databases. 3. Go to the MSSQL directory, then to the sub-dir data and delete the accenta database and accenta log. Once you have done this, you can then click on accenta.exe and re-start the process of creating a new databse. The client must have a user that is equivalent to a user on the server. All odbc 16/32 dlls must be in winnt use odbcadm32 in Control panel, admin tools, and enter accenta (accenta is the dns name) (use master - in the database name if first time use). This is for tcpip connection for named pipes connection use odbcadm in accenta directory and remove reference to accenta system dsn in odbcadm32 (control panel odbc). To use the HOSTS file or LMHOSTS, put the TCP/IP address of the SQL Server server at the start of the line followed by a few spaces followed by the machine name of the SQL Server server. For example: 123.123.123.123 myservername use local server in the 32bit odbc and load the odbc from mssql/win16/odbc The HOSTS or LMHOSTS file belongs in the System32\Drivers\Etc directory for client computers running Microsoft Windows NT and Microsoft Windows 2000, or in the \Windows directory for clients running Microsoft Windows ME, Microsoft Windows 98, or Microsoft Windows 95. STATUSAccenta notes for Client (all Windows and Windows NT versions). MSSQL server service manager must be started on Windows NT or Windows 2000 server. Make sure MSSQL security manager is able to access the sql program. (Grant users) Access to the server is via ODBC with tcp/ip. Set up in the client machine on hosts file the ip address and the host name which appears in the server For demos use IP Address 65.110.1.35 Make sure client side has NETBeui protocol enabled. On the ODBCADM file set the server name (without any slashes). Accenta Intraclient Corp. Palo Alto CA
